WHAT WE BELIEVE IN

Core Values

Authentic Worship

We believe that worship is our highest calling.  We value God-centered worship that brings glory to the Father, that exalts the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and that seeks the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.  We desire our worship to be sound theologically, to allow for heart-felt expression, and to invite participation. (Ephesians 3:21; Revelation 4 & 5)

Bible-Centered Preaching and Teaching

We value ministries of preaching and teaching that are anchored in Scripture and uphold them as an essential part of the church’s function.  We believe the Bible is the divinely-inspired Word of God that is authoritative in all matters of life and the Church.  Our desire is to know the eternal truth of God’s Word so that we are not led astray and deceived. (2 Timothy 3:16-4:2; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 4:12)

Godly Servant Leadership

We value the biblical model of humble leadership – a life of giving, serving, losing and dying.  Jesus is the ultimate example of servant-hood and selflessness.  As His followers and leaders in this assembly, we are called to do the same and to offer Him our time, talent and treasures. (Philippians 2:3-11; 2 Corinthians 4:5; Acts 20:19)

Fellowship and Community

We value the importance of living in a community united around shared faith and shared values as we seek to live in harmony.  We believe that participating in Christian community is God’s plan for rich fellowship, spiritual nurture and growth. (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24.25; Psalm 133)

Prayer

We value the ministry of prayer.  Jesus says, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.”  We believe commitment to personal and corporate prayer is essential for the church to fully realize its potential and to be enabled to act with God’s power.  (Matthew 21-13;  James 5:16)

Discipleship

We value the call make disciples.  As a church we desire to help people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.  This involves total commitment, the surrendering of one’s own self and the pursuit of becoming more like Jesus.  (Mathew 28:18-20; Luke 14:25-35; Romans 8:28-29)

A Missional Church

We value being a church that is missional-minded.  We believe we need to be outward focused.  As the people of God who are being transformed in Christ, we must bring the fragrance of Jesus into our homes, our workplaces, our communities, and our world.  Our Outreach must include soul care (evangelism) and social care (acts of service). (Matthew 25:34-40; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 9:41; 2 Corinthians 2:14-16)

Strong Families

We value building and affirming the family which we believe was ordained by God at creation.  We desire that our church facilitates and encourages the nurture of strong healthy families who love God and each other.  We affirm the biblical definition as the union between one man and one woman.  (Genesis 2:18,24; Ephesians 5:22-25; Ephesians 6:1-4)

Statement of Faith

We believe the scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of all people, and the Divine final authority for all Christian faith and life.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins, according to the scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of God, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict all people, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts for service and for the edification of the Church, according to His will.

We believe that all people were created in the image of God but fell into sin and are therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

We believe the term “marriage” is reserved for the covenant relationship between one man (husband) and one woman (wife) to the exclusion of all others.  This covenant relationship reflects the union between Christ and His Body (the Church).

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for salvation, justification and sanctification for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

We believe that the Lord's Supper and Water Baptism are ordinances, which, though they are not the means to salvation are visible and tangible expressions of the Gospel and are to be observed by the church during this present age.

We believe that the true church is composed of all who through a saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ, of which He is the head.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local church has the authority under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs.

We believe in the personal, bodily, and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting life with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment.

For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37
